Biography
Cuthbert John Ottaway (July 19, 1850 - April 2, 1878), one of the most talented and versatile sportsmen of the 1870s, was the first captain of the England Association Football team and led his side in the earliest full international football match ever played. He is the only Oxford student to have won Blues in five sports, also winning Blues in cricket (1870-73), rackets (1870-3), athletics (1873) and real tennis (1870-2) before being called to the bar in 1873. He died from a chill at the age of 27. (source: Wikipedia)
